Week one thoughts

What an awesome game to kick off the season, Breeze and Rodgers went back and forth in a classic battle. Both N.O and Green Bayhave good defenses so how great are their offenses. B.J Raji was an absolute monster in the middle and Sproles was a great pick up for the Saints.

Baltimore showed up to play, the Steelers didn’t. Seven turnovers, no team can win when you turn it over that many times. I love the way Lee Evans helps out theBaltimoreoffense, he didn’t have a big game but he opened up the field for Boldin and Ed Dickenson and the rest of the passing game. Flaco will flourish with the weapons at his disposal.

The Bears defense was phenomenal, 5 sacks 3 takeaways and constant pressure on Matt Ryan. If Peppers plays like this all season long the Bears will be in great shape. I think Atlanta’s offense will be fine going forward but they were completely dominated.

Peyton Manning is the most valuable player in the NFL with him Colts will always have chance at title, with out them they are a 4 win team at best. The Texans Defense will be great this year. Wade Phillips blitz schemes and their personnel makes this team a darkhorse for the title. Brooks Reed, A.J Watt and a healthy Demeco Ryans and a Full 16 games for Cushing and the addition of Brandon Harris and Joseph in the secondary, this is a complete team and will be a threat to anyone.

I picked the Bills to beat the Chiefs but I didn’t think they would blow them out. I don’t think this says as much about Buffalo then it does the Chiefs, the defending AFC west champs have major issues on offense and now there defense takes a hit losing Eric Berry for the year, not good.

Cam Newton was fantastic in a losing effort, I thought the man would make some plays but I didn’t think that he would throw it all over the place. Keep in mind Cardinals secondary is suspect butNewtonand Steve Smith showed they can be a potent combination.

The Cowboys receiving corp. must be paper thin, Dez Bryant could barly move yet he was out there in crucial spots and was totally ineffective in the second half. Romo’s fumble was costly and let the JETS back into the game. I’ve always been a big Joe Mcknight fan and it was nice to see him make a big play in a big spot.

Brady was fantastic and set a new MNF record for passing yards with 517. I now have major concerns about the Pats secondary and defense in general after allowing Chad Henne to pass for more than 400 yards. The offense will have to carry the team until the D gets it figured out.

So I went 12-4 with the spread on my pics. I took a flyer on the Rams who were overmatched and didn’t seeChicagohandlingAtlantaso easily, but good job overall. Check back Friday for my week 2 pics.
